Lindsey Williams

Head Pastor
E-mail Lindsey Williams

Lindsey is a native of Raleigh, and has always been in love with his hometown. The son of a local politician, university professor (Go Pack!), and deacon in a downtown Baptist Church, he has always had one foot in Old South spirituality and the other in New South progressivism. It was at UNC that he met his wife, Kara Whiteside from Rocky Mount. After working for IBM in the Research Triangle Park for a couple of years, he sensed a call to pastoral ministry. He moved to Charlotte, where he received his Masters of Divinity from Reformed Theological Seminary. After seminary, he served as an Associate Pastor at Uptown Church in Charlotte for 5 years, where he focused on outreach, mercy ministry, small groups, and pastoral care. After seeing the impact of church planting in the Charlotte area, and assisting in the oversight of two church plants, he became convinced that there is no better way to advance the kingdom of God than through church planting. His love for the urban context, commitment to seeing the kingdom of God expand through a local body of believers, and the unswerving belief that “there’s no place like home” have led him back to Raleigh. Lindsey & Kara have been happily married since 1998, and have 3 children-Austin (2004), Marion (2005), and Ann Lauren (2009).

You can find Lindsey on Facebook and Twitter.

A special thank you to Baley Reeves, a Midtowner and the creative mind behind 715 West Photography for taking our staff pictures!

Gorden Fleming

Associate Pastor
E-mail Gorden Fleming

Gorden, a native Mississippian, graduated from The University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) in 1999.  After serving with Campus Crusade for Christ for two years at Auburn University, Gorden moved to Charlotte, NC, to obtain his Masters of Divinity from Reformed Theological Seminary.  It was in Charlotte where Gorden met Kelly Kallam, and they married in 2003.  Upon graduation, Gorden served as a pastor in two different churches before God moved him into the business sector, where he worked for 8 years.

In late 2012, as Gorden and Kelly were confronted with the reality of the brokenness and pain of living in a sin stained world, and in seeing that the Gospel of Grace is the only answer to this brokenness, they began to ask if God was calling Gorden back into vocational ministry.  Through three years of prayer and counsel, it became obvious that he was called, which is what led the Flemings to Raleigh and to Midtown Community Church in October 2015.

Gorden and Kelly have four kids:  Ware (2005), Caroline Gray (2007), Hunt (2011) and Bess (2013).  When he rarely has free-time he enjoys exercising and anything Ole Miss.

E-mail Emily Baker

Emily is originally from the upper Midwest and moved to North Carolina for graduate school in July 2010 and has fallen in love with Raleigh and the greater triangle area. Emily is a graduate of Hope College with a degree in management as well as NC State where she received her Masters of Education in Higher Education Administration.  She has been married to Sam since 2009 and they have two daughters-Lilly born April 2014 and Hope born April 2016. Sam and Emily have fallen in love with the state of North Carolina, the people of Midtown, and are thankful to be following God’s calling to be here. Emily enjoys connecting with others at Midtown throughout the week and appreciates that we can be invested in one another’s lives while living in very different life stages. Life right now does not allow for a lot of hobbies or free time with two little ones at home but they enjoy a lot that Raleigh has to offer and being outdoors as much as possible. Whenever the family can take their dog Becca with them, it is always additional fun. Emily serves as the admin for Midtown.
