Preparing For Worship

Leading up to Sunday, September 24

Scripture Passage

1 Peter 1:13-25

This week’s Song of Confession is based on Psalm 24. It is a reminder of God’s call for us to be holy and provides an outline for how we can approach what is a humanly impossible task. By humbling ourselves before our Creator and focusing our worship on Him, we realize that we can only achieve holiness by putting our hope and faith in Christ. As you prepare your heart for worship this week, reflect on these words and ask the Spirit to reveal the things that are taking your gaze away from Him.

We bow our hearts, we bend our knees
Oh Spirit come make us humble
We turn our eyes from evil things
Oh Lord we cast down our idols

Give us clean hands, give us pure hearts

Let us not lift our souls to another
O God, let us be a generation that seeks
That seeks Your face, O God of Jacob
