Preparing For Worship
Leading up to Sunday, July 2
This Sunday we continue our study through Jesus’ letters to the seven churches in Revelation. As we come to worship to hear these exhorting words – which are full of love – let’s take stock of our hearts and minds, noticing what is true of ourselves. One way to do so is to read a passage like Psalm 131 and to notice how we do or don’t identify with the heart of the writer. In honesty about the state of your own heart, simply ask the Lord to ready us to come to worship and to find Him there.
LORD, my heart is not proud;
my eyes are not haughty.
I don’t concern myself with matters too great
or too awesome for me to grasp.
Instead, I have calmed and quieted myself,
like a weaned child who no longer cries for its mother’s milk.
Yes, like a weaned child is my soul within me.
O Israel, put your hope in the LORD—
now and always.
