Preparing For Worship
Leading up to Sunday October 22
As we approach the coming Sabbath, consider these two passages which focus on God’s will.
Teach me to do your will, for you are my God! Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground! –Psalm 143:10
For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day. For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. -John 6:38-40
In Psalm 143, we see David pleading with God to teach him how to “do” His will and that this would lead to level ground (i.e. an end to hardship). In John 6, Jesus explains that He came to “do” God’s will (not His own) and then reveals what God’s will is for those who believe. As you prepare for worship this week, consider this question: Are you pleading with God for Him to teach you to do His will or are you pleading with Him to align His will with yours? Let us worship Him knowing that His will for those who believe is to spend eternity with Him!
