Preparing For Worship

Leading up to Sunday, October 1

Scripture Passage

Micah 6:6-8

Reflection

This week we will pause our look at 1 Peter to look at the ministry of mercy among us at Midtown. We will dig into a passage from Micah, listening to the Word of God to convict us toward hearts of mercy. We will even have the opportunity to hear from a couple Midtowners who are engaged in relational ministry in our city and learn about some of the ministries with whom Midtown partners.

Before you come, consider pondering Isaiah 1. Look at how it echoes the words of our sermon scripture passage from Micah. Amidst the Lord calling out for the holiness of His people, He specifically commands them to “do good. Seek justice. Help the oppressed. Defend the cause of orphans. Fight for the rights of widows.” (Is 1:16-17) Let us examine our own time and hearts toward the oppressed, orphans and widows and ask that He convict us through our worship on Sunday morning.
